I co-developed a pre-college sustainability workshop for Pacific Northwest College of the Arts summer program.
Through the lens of graphic design and social responsibility students learned to find the magically unexpected in recycled, re-used and re-imagined materials.
The workshop translated real-world observations and insights about sustainability and re-use into graphic design. Combining text and images with recycled materials, students will develop their own rich content through writing, collecting, collaging, and experimenting to create a design narrative.
Basic design fundamentals were introduced in addition to social responsibility, sustainability and eco-awareness in graphic design. Students were also introduced to topics such as the principles and elements of design, typography, composition and layout.
